NEW DEVELOPMENTS

WESTSHORE

Pulling together Westshore and Downtown with an energetic, contemporary neighborhood, the $500 million Midtown development offers 1.8 million square feet of retail, residential, entertainment and hospitality space, including Tampa’s second Aloft property and Element by Westin. The 7-story dual-branded hotel features 226 rooms, a rooftop terrace, pool and lounge.

 

CONVENTION CENTER

The Tampa Convention Center, one of the leading conference facilities in the South East, is undergoing a $30 million Capital Improvement Plan featuring new waterfront meeting spaces, upgraded facilities and the addition of local restaurants including Harpoon Harry’s, Big Ray’s Fish Camp, and Tampa’s second Datz Restaurant. Eighteen waterfront meeting rooms will span 16,000 square feet and two stories with a terrace and outdoor space. 

 

TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Following a major expansion of its main terminal and the addition of a new rental-car facility, award-winning Tampa International Airport continues its multi-billion dollar renovations. Phase 2 of its expansion commences includes new curbside express lanes, an atrium, a new pedestrian bridge and a 170-acre commercial development with two new hotels.

 

PORT TAMPA BAY

New in 2019, the TECO Historic Streetcar is free and more frequent, making it easy to visit downtown and historic Ybor City from Port Tampa Bay. Before cruising to Cuba, you can visit Cuban soil at Ybor City’s José Martí Park. Port Tampa Bay hosts four cruise lines. They make Tampa Bay the ideal departure point for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Cuba. The port’s central location is close to the Unlock Tampa Bay Visitors Center, The Florida Aquarium, Tampa Bay History Center, and waterfront Sparkman Wharf entertainment complex.

HYDE PARK VILLAGE

Hyde Park Village is undergoing a beautification project that will revitalize Tampa’s historic and much-loved village. The project will brighten building facades, widen sidewalks, add new on-street parking, landscaping and outdoor seating areas. Retail and restaurant additions will be made as well, including Meat Market, Station House, Forbici and more.

 

HOTEL DEVELOPMENT

With more than 1,500 new hotel rooms on the horizon, and recent renovations to 1,000 more, Tampa Bay will see a dramatic expansion of its offerings for overnight visitors. The list includes major luxury brands and the destination’s first 5-star property.

 

FALL 2020

JW Marriott Tampa

Marriott International’s luxurious JW Marriott brand rises for the first time in Tampa. The 26-story hotel will be steps from the Tampa Convention Center and Amalie Arena, and will feature 126,000 square feet of meeting and event space as well as the highest rooftop bar in Tampa Bay.

 

SPRING 2021

EDITION

Slated to be the city’s first full-service, five-star hotel, the Tampa EDITION will be located in the heart of the Water Street Tampa district, offering boutique amenities, retail, a high-end restaurant and pristine architectural elements by the acclaimed Ian Schrager Company.

FALL 2020

Hyatt Place / Hyatt House

The 17-story, dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House will be located just off Tampa’s city center with 4,000 square feet of meeting space, 3,200 square feet of retail and just two blocks from the Tampa Riverwalk.

SPRING 2020

Aparium Hotel Ybor City

The four-story boutique hotel will be located on one the most historic blocks in Tampa’s Ybor City district. Situated along the iconic Seventh Avenue, the hotel will be fully restored and historically preserved from what once was Las Novedades restaurant, a popular spot for locals in the late 1800s.
