Visit Tampa Bay Welcomes New Public Relations Coordinator

TAMPA, FL (Jan. 7, 2020) – Visit Tampa Bay has announced the addition of a new Public Relations Coordinator, Marissa Weaver, who joins the Marketing and Communications team this month. 

Weaver graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. Her experience includes positions with Feeding Tampa Bay, AmeriCorps Vista, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she continues to be an active member of one of the Tampa graduate chapters.

“As travel confidence continues to grow, we are committed to increasing Tampa Bay’s awareness and keeping it top of mind for potential travelers,” says Santiago C. Corrada, president and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. “We are excited to invest in talent that can help us achieve that goal by garnering strong media, industry and consumer relationships through innovative public relations and corporate communications strategies.” 

Despite a challenging year for tourism, Visit Tampa Bay grew awareness of the destination and produced nearly 1,500 earned media placements, equating to $26.4 million in advertising value. The destination marketing organization also positioned itself from selling to leading with more media outlets turning to Visit Tampa Bay for expertise than ever before. 

“I’m looking forward to making new connections in the tourism industry and contributing to the continuous growth of this beautiful destination,” says Weaver. “I am excited about being a part of the Visit Tampa Bay family and spreading the word about the destination’s unique offerings.”
