VISIT TAMPA BAY REPORTS $6M FEBRUARY TDT COLLECTIONS

Leisure and Meetings Visitors Continue to Boost Economic Development in Tampa Bay

Tampa, FL (March 23, 2023) – Collaborating with and leading over 750 hospitality partners and stakeholders, Visit Tampa Bay epitomizes the importance of collaboration and marketing with the announcement of February’s total TDT collections.  Recently honored by Time as one of the world’s Greatest Places for 2023, global interest in the destination continues to grow as totals, reflecting January hotel collections, reached $6,378,083, a 26.8% increase over the previous numbers collected in 2022. 

“With our out-of-state winter advertising, meetings and international campaigns in full effect, Tampa Bay tourism collections continue to boost economic and community development,” says Santiago C. Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. “We are a welcoming destination and while leisure visitors have been key to our recovery ahead of communities in our competitive sets, Visit Tampa Bay is honored to host more than 20 major upcoming conventions in 2023 with an economic impact on the community in excess of $68 million. From past events such as the RNC and IIFA Awards to medical conferences, reunions, religious and fraternal organizations, we are synonymous with successful conferences and events.”  

Upcoming events including the Church of God Ministries 2023 Leadership Conference, the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers Motorcycle Club, Church of the Nazarene 2023 Youth Convention, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity 86th Grand Chapter Meeting, Tampa Bay Comic Convention and Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine Imperial Session, which speak to the breadth of our community and the 51,000 people in Hillsborough County that directly support their families and secure their futures through tourism.

Total TDT collections for the first four months of the 2023 fiscal year reached $25,967,496. Taxable hotel revenue for January reached $106,406,400, a 27.1% increase over the previous collections and marks the 22nd consecutive month of increased collections and taxable hotel revenue. 

Hotel occupancy for February came in at 83.2 and January at 75.3%, According to industry analyst STR, Inc ADR reached $192.80 in February and $177.36 in January with RevPAR totaling $160.45 and $133.50 and hotel revenues up 16.8% and 29% in February and January respectively.
