DePiro’s stellar meetings and group leadership earns new role

Tampa, FL (January 4, 2024) – Visit Tampa Bay is pleased to announce the promotion of Adam DePiro to Chief Sales Officer. A veteran sales and hospitality professional, Adam has been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction, policies, and goals of the convention and meeting team that includes a record-setting performance in 2023.

During his 11-year tenure with Visit Tampa Bay, Adam has successfully forged deep and meaningful relationships with meeting professionals, industry partners and vendors to develop the DMO’s most successful meetings campaigns to date. His stellar record in exceeding sales goals is a direct result of his ability to lead by example, develop innovative sales strategies, and interpret market analytics. In fact, colleagues and partners alike have continually recognized his exemplary work ethic and positive demeanor, especially in leading group business for Florida’s first and only Tourism Marketing District.

Coming off Visit Tampa Bay’s best summer of conventions to date and the DMO’s best fiscal year ever, with $1.1 Billion in taxable revenue, Adam was part of the team that launched the $1M+ campaign targeting meeting professionals and associations across the U.S. His strong relationships with professional organizations like ASAE (American Society of Association Executives) and PCMA (Professional Convention Management Association), and MPI (Meeting Professionals International) have been instrumental in boosting the destination’s brand exposure.

Prior to joining Visit Tampa Bay, DePiro served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the DoubleTree by Hilton Tampa Airport – Westshore and Regional Vice President, Sales for Hyatt Select Hotels Group.

In early 2024, with an additional $1.5M investment, Visit Tampa Bay will ramp up their meetings messaging by launching a new campaign targeting transient business travelers and small groups. This direct-to-consumer campaign will reach individual business travelers, enticing them to extend their stay and enjoy Tampa Bay’s year-round events.
