HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY SURPASSES $1 BILLION IN HOTEL REVENUE FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
August Tourist Development Tax collections reach the second highest ever recorded
Tampa, FL (September 6, 2024) – With one month remaining in Fiscal Year 2024, Tampa Bay’s taxable hotel revenue has topped $1 billion for the second year in a row. Reaching a total of $1,013,801,704 as of the end of July represents a significant achievement that underscores the consistency and successful economic development of Hillsborough County’s Tourism and Hospitality industry.
Tourist Development Tax (TDT) collected for July also reached near-record levels, totaling $4,701,307, making it the second-highest amount ever for the month. This brings the total TDT collections for the fiscal year so far to $60,820,246. Additionally, hotel occupancy for July reached 68.1%, with the ADR averaging $144.86 and RevPAR coming in at $98.60.

Hotel taxable revenue for July reached $78,417,979 and, with just one more month in the fiscal year, Tampa Bay tourism numbers remain strong thanks to the continued appeal of the region’s world-class experiences for visitors. Tampa Bay is the urban core of Florida’s Gulf Coast, and the tourism industry plays an essential role in driving Hillsborough County’s economy.
