HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY HOTEL REVENUE TOPS $1 BILLION FOR THIRD SUCCESSIVE FISCAL YEAR
Revenue sits just $23 million shy of last year’s total with two months to go
Tampa, FL (Aug. 12, 2025) – Hillsborough County’s taxable hotel revenue for Fiscal Year 2025 neared a new peak after clearing $1.06 billion at the end of June, putting it within striking distance of last year’s mark of $1.08 billion with July and August revenue numbers still to be tallied.
Visit Tampa Bay’s President and CEO, Santiago C. Corrada, says Tampa Bay’s hospitality industry is poised to close FY25 in a strong financial position and is postured to adapt to the ever-changing travel and tourism market.
“We are optimistic that FY25’s hotel revenue numbers will rival some of the county’s previous best performances,” said Corrada. “Sustained performance like this isn’t easy, and the travel and tourism topography is evolving in response to a host of factors. Closing FY25 in this manner provides a strong foundation to build on as we adapt to that dynamic environment, and it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire hospitality eco-system in Tampa Bay.”

June’s hotel revenue of $76,025,089 brought FY25’s year-to-date revenue total to $1,061,758,729, just over $20 million shy of FY24’s figure of $1,084,098,771. June’s numbers were fed greatly by the 27 conventions and meetings in Tampa Bay, including the United States Conference of Mayors’ Annual Conference and AVID’s (Advanced Via Individual Determination) 2025 Summer Institute. In all, these gatherings resulted in more than 18,000 hotel room nights being booked and generated more than $10 million in estimated economic impact.
Many of the organizations that hold meetings in Tampa Bay are committed to giving back to our community through Visit Tampa Bay’s “Meeting the Moment” program. In June, for example, the veteran service organization, The Mission Continues, held their Pathways to Service + Success Expo. Partnering with local non-profits, the organization conducted five days of community service with over 150 veterans from across the country to help create sustainable green spaces and beautify portions of Tampa.
“Often we focus on financial figures generated by a visiting group,” said Corrada. “But more often than not, they are committed to leaving our community in better shape when they leave. That’s what Visit Tampa Bay’s “Meeting the Moment” program is all about.”
