HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY HOTEL REVENUE REMAINS HEALTHY AS FISCAL YEAR 2025 BEGINS
Tampa Bay is ready to build on momentum of back-to-back billion-dollar years
TAMPA, FL (Nov. 8, 2024) – Building on the energy generated over two consecutive billion-dollar years, the first Hillsborough County hotel revenue figures for Fiscal Year 2025 indicate a strong start.
Hotel stays in October (September collections) earned $72,669,101 and generated Tourism Development Taxes of $4,294,802, a 3.8% increase in TDT from the previous fiscal year and the highest amount collected for the month in Hillsborough County history. During that same period, occupancy was 65.8%, with the Average Daily Rate (ADR) averaging $143.17 and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) coming in at $94.19.
Hillsborough County’s robust beginning to FY 2025 continues the momentum in Tampa Bay’s hospitality industry created over the last two years. Hotel stays garnered $1,084,098,771 in Fiscal Year 2024, generating $65,035,754 in TDT collections. Going back to Fiscal Year 2023’s record revenue of $1,099,472,706, the last two years are the only times in Hillsborough County history to see hotel revenue surpass $1 billion.
“Early numbers for Fiscal Year 2025 are promising and indicate our industry’s investment to showcase Tampa Bay as a world-class destination over the last several years has paid consistent dividends,” said Santiago C. Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. “But we can’t and won’t rest on our laurels, and the Tampa Bay hospitality community remains ready to welcome visitors near and far for a wonderful one-of-a-kind experience.”
Corrada emphasized that Visit Tampa Bay is focused on reminding potential guests that, despite recent weather challenges, Tampa Bay is ready to play.
“Visit Tampa Bay is investing an additional $6 million in sales and marketing efforts above our original budget, including $1.4 million into a November and December paid-media campaign,” said Corrada. “We want to remind travelers looking for adventure, relaxing vibes, and delicious dining, that Tampa Bay and its warm weather, blue skies, luxury hotels, MICHELIN-rated restaurants, and heart-stopping attractions is the place to be.”
