• About
Built in 1912, Tampa Union Station is a beautiful example of Italian Renaissance Revival and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic station is one of Tampa’s front doors and is the center of a growing and redeveloping five-district area of Tampa’s Downtown (GasWorx, Channel District, Water Street Tampa, the Central Business District, and Encore!). The publicly owned station is open 365 days per year, serving over 140,000 Amtrak rail passengers annually and standing ready to play a part in Tampa’s transportation future while telling the compelling story of a unique piece of Florida’s past.

Through public programs and events, exhibits within the station, and the hard work of its volunteers, Friends of Tampa Union Station – a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 2008 by a group of citizens – has sought to tell these stories and to help maintain the building and grounds in Downtown Tampa.
