• About

Rated among the best aquariums in the US, The Florida Aquarium is home to a variety of animals, from dwarf seahorses to a giant Pacific octopus and apex predators. Guests are invited to journey from sea level to tree level, enjoying wildlife and habitats from Florida and around the globe, including:

    • A free-flying bird aviary with a lush mangrove tunnel, flowing waters of native fish, energetic river otters, and imposing alligators are under the Aquarium's iconic glass dome.

    • A 500,000-gallon panoramic Coral Reef Gallery, home to sand tiger sharks, a sea turtle, giant Atlantic stingrays, and hundreds of reef-dwelling fish.

    • Interactive habitats like Stingray Beach, where you can roll up your sleeves and feel the velvety wing tip of a cownose ray, and Moon Bay, where you can touch a fascinating jelly.

    • Unique experiences that add to your day of aquatic adventure. Dive into SeaTREK, a guided underwater walking tour of our Heart of the Sea habitat, set sail in Tampa Bay on a Wild Dolphin Cruise, and more.

Conveniently located in downtown Tampa, Florida, between 2 cruise ship terminals, The Florida Aquarium sits along the free streetcar route, offering easy access to Tampa's award-winning Riverwalk, historic Ybor City, and countless dining, shopping, and entertainment options, including the waterfront Sparkman Wharf.

More than a fun attraction, The Florida Aquarium is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to their shared purpose of saving marine wildlife. Admission sales help educate visiting students, provide world-class care to our animals, rehabilitate rescued sea turtles, and advance scientific research to save Florida's Coral Reef. The Aquarium is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for maintaining high standards in animal welfare, veterinary care, conservation, and education, among other requirements.
