ON THE HORIZON

In an effort to energize and tease visitors and locals about what Tampa Bay has in store, Visit Tampa Bay launched a new video series highlighting the destination’s most anticipated openings, including new developments, hotels, attractions and restaurants.

HOTEL ROUNDUP

Over the last few months, Tampa Bay welcomed new hotel properties ranging from luxurious boutique offerings to spacious family-friendly accommodations. Each with its own unique personality, these hotels span over various districts like the brand-new Midtown, a revived Ybor City, and several areas of downtown, including the Water Street Tampa development.

BASEBALL MUSEUM

The next installment of our On the Horizon Series features the long-awaited Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House. Go behind the scenes with its president Chantal Hevia and curator Deborah Guglielmo as they preserve Tampa Bay’s fascinating baseball history and put the finishing touches on installations and memorabilia.

J.C. NEWMAN CIGAR CO.

Our next installment of On the Horizon takes us inside J.C. Newman Cigar Company, the oldest family-owned cigar factory in America and soon-to-be museum. From vintage cigar machines to a centuries-old "reloj", this museum preserves the very best of what makes Tampa Bay the Cigar Capital of the World.

MIDTOWN TAMPA

Kathy Hackshaw, general manager of Midtown, gives us a look at the finishing touches of the exteriors before moving to the interiors. Kathy provides a unique look of Midtown once it is finished and how the exterior space, The Commons, will be the heartbeat of their “live, work, play” philosophy.

CASA SANTO STEFANO

The series kicks off with an update on the highly anticipated opening of Casa Santo Stefano, the brainchild of fourth-generation owner of the Columbia Restaurant Group, Richard Gonzmart. Housed in a former 1925 Ybor City macaroni factory, Casa Santo Stefano pays fond tribute to the food that Gonzmart ate every Sunday at his best friend’s Sicilian household. Those Nana-cooked meals provide the inspiration for the pastas, sauces and seafood that will be featured at the Tampa restaurant when it opens later this year.

Our next installment of On the Horizon takes us to one of Tampa Bay’s newest developments, Midtown! The first of the two-part Midtown series shows off its newest dual-branded Aloft/Element hotel. Ivette takes us onto the construction site where a brand-new rooftop restaurant, stellar skyline views and a trendy aesthetic take center stage.
