Mary Haban to Lead Visit Tampa Bay's Global Communications Strategies, Bringing Decades of Expertise

Tampa, FL (February 6, 2024) – Visit Tampa Bay is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Haban as Vice President of Global Communications. In her new role, Mary will oversee several key areas, including leading Visit Tampa Bay's communications team, increasing brand exposure, elevating community relations and executive communications, and amplifying owned and earned media relations, all aimed at enhancing the organization's global communication efforts.

Haban is a highly regarded expert in tourism and marketing, known for her ability to elevate brands and deliver exceptional results across diverse industries. Her impressive track record includes consistently securing high-impact media coverage to enhance brand reputation and increase awareness. Before joining Visit Tampa Bay, Haban served as the Senior Manager of Public Relations and Communications at Visit Lauderdale, where she effectively showcased her tourism expertise on a global scale, leveraging the destination's unique strengths. She’s also served as Senior Public Relations Manager at Visit St. Pete Clearwater.

Mary's distinguished career spans several decades and comprises roles as Senior Manager of Copy and Content, at Ashley Furniture Industries, Senior Communications Strategist at Allstate Insurance Company, and Contributing Writer for Luxe Beat Magazine and ConventionSouth Magazine. Additionally, she brings a decade of experience as a broadcast writer and producer for NBC and Fox stations in Miami, Denver, and Tampa Bay.

Haban has had a remarkable career as a respected communications strategist, earning recognition as a global leader in her field. She’s an accredited public relations professional, and recipient of both Emmy and Addy awards. In 2020, she received the Life Achievement Award from the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She’s a graduate of the University of Miami and completed Stanford University’s Mass Media Institute, where she sharpened her broadcast prowess.
