TAMPA BAY TOURIST DEVELOPMENT TAX COLLECTIONS REMAIN STRONG IN JUNE

Total bed tax collections hit over $52 million with three months left in the 2023 fiscal year 


Tampa, FL (July 27, 2023) – In collaboration with over 750 partners working to create a significant economic impact in Hillsborough County, Visit Tampa Bay reports taxable hotel revenue for June, collected in May, reached $87,689,178. Total taxable hotel revenue for the fiscal year is currently $873,439,297, with Hillsborough County expected to surpass the 2022 fiscal year $1 billion goal. With tourist development tax (TDT) collections passing the $52 million mark for the year, June TDT collections, reflecting May, came in at $5,257,350, bringing the total tax collections to $52,385,129 for the fiscal year.

Hotel occupancy for June came in at 69.5%. The average daily rate (ADR) for June averaged $140.59, with RevPAR coming in at $97.65. With three months left in the fiscal year, Tampa Bay leads in the leisure sales and conventions competition set with 76.4%.

Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. “Welcoming visitors such as Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for its 86th Grand Chapter Meeting that brought almost 20K attendees and produced an estimated $15 million in economic impact to Hillsborough County, these distinguished men and their families took over “Kappa Bay” by exploring our world-class attractions, new hotels and excellent culinary scene.”  

Visit Tampa Bay continues to work diligently to promote the heart of Florida’s Gulf Coast through major regional and interaction activations and trade shows such as Nat Geo Food Show (UK) ASAE (Atlanta), Destinations International (Dallas), Connect Marketplace and TravelAbility Summit (Savannah, Ga) to highlight the destination and maintain market share during the traditional shoulder season summer months.
