After his creator dies unexpectedly, Edward, an artificial human entirely complete except for the hands, is accidentally rescued by Peg, a wayward Avon salesperson who brings him to her home. Soon, Edward is making himself useful all over town, trimming people’s hedges and pets and taking on any other odd jobs that call for a friendly, quiet person in possession of huge cutting implements. But when he falls in love with Peg’s daughter Kim, their mundane lives get complicated.
