TAMPA (February 27, 2018) | Beer goes with Tampa Bay like sunshine and hand-rolled cigars. Florida’s first commercial brewery opened here in Ybor City in 1897. The nation’s oldest brewery, Yuengling, gives free tours of Tampa Bay bottling plant – the only location outside Pennsylvania. Before it became world-famous for thrill rides, Busch Gardens® Tampa Bay opened as a beer garden and botanical garden feature Anheuser Busch products.

Today, Tampa Bay is the home of legendary Cigar City -- ranked among the best in the world – and dozens of other fantastic breweries Tampa Bay, a collection that has earned Tampa Bay our position as Florida’s hub for all things craft beer. During Tampa Bay Beer Week, which kicks off March 3, craft beer fans will find eight days of exciting activities, tap takeovers, and enough unique creations, all celebrating the booming business of craft brewing in Tampa Bay.

The highlights:

March 3, 6-11 p.m. | Late Start Tap Takeover

Coppertail Brewing Co.,

2601 E 2nd Ave 
It’s the official start of Tampa Bay Beer Week and Coppertail is hosting Late Start Brewing for a tap takeover. Late Start is one of Tampa’s up and coming breweries. Their soon-to-be open brewery will be located in Channelside at the Pour House bar.

March 4, Noon-4:30 p.m. | Brewers Ball

Water Works Park, 1710 N Highland Ave 
The Brewer's Ball is an event for Florida craft beer lovers. All of the Best Florida Beer Championships category winning commercial beers made in Florida are showcased during an afternoon of live music, awards, and one of the best beer raffles in Florida. This festival features over 100 of Florida's Best Beers on tap! Tickets are $75.

March 5, 6-9 p.m. | Dogfish Head Beer Dinner

World of Beer Avion Park

Indulge in a four-course beer dinner featuring rare beers from Dogfish Head.  61mimute, Siracusa Nera, Vanilla Oak Aged World Wide Stout, and 120 min.   $40 in advance; $45 at the door.

March 6, 6-8 p.m. | Haven & Motorworks Crush Hour & Food Pairings

Haven

2208 West Morrison Avenue

In the heart of toney Hyde Park, Haven Executive Chef Chad Johnson constructs pairing carefully curated to match the offers of Bradenton-based Motorworks Brewing. Pairing will draw from Haven’s extensive collection of meats and cheeses. Attendees should RSVP.

March 7, 4-9 p.m. | Grilled Cheese & Beer Pairing

These aren’t your cafeteria grilled cheese sandwiches! How does Gruyere and Cheddar with Caramelized Onions toasted with Rosemary and Thyme Butter sound?  How about Fenugreek Gouda, Peach Marmalade and Thick Sliced Bacon?  That’s just a sample of what’s in store for you.  Enjoy a single sandwich with a specially selected beer or a flight of three. 

March 7, 6 p.m. | Wood Car Races

Coppertail Brewing Co.

2601 East 2nd Avenue

Bring out your inner Scout. Buy a pine car racer-making kit in the taproom for making a car to enter in the race. Up to 30 cars will be able to participate. There are no limits on cheering. Rules of the road are on Coppertail’s Facebook page. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Craft brewers from Richmond, Va.’s Hardywood Park will be on hand with guest tap selections.

March 8, 6-11 p.m. | Night of Wood V

Tampa Bay Brewing Co., Ybor City

1600 East 8th Avenue

In the heart of historic Ybor City, Tampa Bay Brewing Co. hosts its fifth Night of Wood, a no-cover event that lets beer lovers sample eight different barrel-aged and wood-treated beers in varying styles and gravities. Sample all eight for a set price or grab a full pour of your favorite!

March 8, 8-10 p.m. | Beer Olympics

Local Draught House,

Hosted by Tampa Bay legend Cigar City Brewing and Oskar Blues, guests will be in teams of 2 competing to play beer pong, ping pong, quarters, basketball, and corn hole. 3rd place prize: Cigar City gift basket, 2nd place prize: Oskar Blues hammock, 1st place prize: Gasparilla Music Fest tickets.

March 9 | Out-of-Towners’ Night at Parcade

March 10, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Hunahpu’s Day
