TAMPA (Dec. 30, 2015) – Tampa Bay’s food scene takes center stage Sunday, Jan. 3, when the second season of “Emeril’s Florida” starts on the Cooking Channel.
The program, “Tampa’s Icons,” shines a spotlight on local favorites Mise en Place, Bern’s Steak House and Cigar City Brewing Co.
Here’s the Cooking Channel’s synopsis:
In Tampa, Emeril Lagasse visits Mise en Place, one of the leading restaurants in Florida, where he tries some of Chef Marty Blitz's latest creations, including sous vide venison loin and buttermilk panna cotta. Then, Emeril goes to Cigar City Brewing, where he samples some of their signature beers following a brewery tour. Then Emeril visits one of the most respected and popular steakhouses in the world, Bern's Steakhouse. Emeril tours their restaurant and a peek at their wine collection, the largest of any restaurant in the world.
The show airs at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 3, 9:30 a.m. Jan. 4, and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7. (A video clip and stills are available here.)
“We’re thrilled to see Tampa Bay’s fantastic food scene getting national and international recognition it deserves from one of the country’s most famous chefs,” said Santiago Corrada, president and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. “ ‘Emeril’s Florida’ will show the world every day the creativity and skill we have among our restaurants and craft breweries here in Tampa Bay.”
Mise en Place is celebrating the episode a few days early with an Emeril-inspired five-course meal on New Year’s Eve. Reservations can be made by calling (813) 254-5373.
Last year, an episode of “Emeril’s Florida” focused on waterfront dining featured Tampa Bay’s native-inspired Ulele restaurant in the Tampa Heights neighborhood north of downtown.
