Buddy Brew Coffee, with its iconic “dog head” logo and “Brew Good, Do Good,” mission, is Tampa Bay’s quintessential coffee brand. Ever in search of a better cup of coffee, founders Dave and Susan Ward opened a small roastery on Kennedy Boulevard in 2010. When people began lining up each day to sample their coffees, their fledgling business took flight. They expanded the roastery into a cafe, and to date have opened eight locations, now serving 20,000 people every week. They source directly from farmers, selecting only single origin specialty grade coffee beans that are among the top 2% in quality in the world. Buddy Brew buys directly and pays highly equitable prices so farmers can thrive. The company’s collaboration coffees raise funds
for reforestation efforts in Burundi, East Africa, supporting victims of human trafficking, and supplying bicycles to foster children in need, among other causes. This year, a grocery expansion took the Buddy Brew name far beyond Florida’s borders. Its whole bean coffees and BOLT ready-to-drink cold brew are now sold across the country in hundreds of Whole Foods, Publix, The Fresh Market and Winn-Dixie stores.
