The Florida Aquarium is kicking off World Oceans Day with an entire week of festivities including a celebration highlighting its SEAFOOD NOW initiative on June 8-9, a program dedicated to educating the community on the importance of sustainable seafood choices and responsible fishing practices.
As part of the fun, guests will enjoy hands-on educational activities, a seafood scavenger hunt, live presentations about SEAFOOD NOW and appearances by The Florida Aquarium Mermaids.
The rest of the week, June 10-15, participating restaurants are serving a special sustainable seafood menu, with part of the proceeds benefiting The Florida Aquarium’s Education, Conservation, and Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation programs.
Participating restaurants include:
- Mitchell’s Fish Market
- Byblos Café
- Parkshore Grill
- Oishi Sushi and Steakhouse
- Thai Thani
The celebration will end with a splash on June 15th, when The Florida Aquarium will host the First Annual SEAFOOD NOW Sustainable Seafood Festival and Market! From 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., guests will be able to enjoy seafood buffets, interactive games, various cooking demos and local vendors.
All activities and presentations are included in Aquarium general admission price. The Florida Aquarium is located at 701 Channelside Dr., Tampa. For more details call 813.273.4000 or visit www.flaaquarium.org.
