Good morning Tampa! Lisa here with an exciting update about one of our most historic Tampa Florida Attractions!
The Henry B. Plant Museum will be offering Sunday Tours starting on January 16th! They are starting a monthly program, simply named Sunday Tours. On the third Sunday of every month, there will be free tours (with the price of a regular admission) given at the museum. These tours will start at 1pm, and will be given by Museum docents.
A quick vocab lesson for everyone. What is a Museum docent? They are someone who is an expert in the history of a museum. Their goal is to train and educate the public of the cultural and historical collections of the Museum, zoo, historical landmarks, and even parks. (I got that information from the Hood Museum's website of Dartmouth College).
Also happening at 2pm Upstairs/Downstairs at the Tampa Bay Hotel will feature Richard Harding Davis. This is a 30 minute live theater production that is also included with regular admission the the Museum.
"The Henry B. Plant Museum interprets the turn-of-the-century Tampa Bay Hotel and the lifestyles of America’s Gilded Age. Critical to the success of this mission is the restoration and preservation of this National Historic Landmark, an opulent 1891 railroad resort, and the artifacts significant to its history, and the life and work of Henry Bradley Plant. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Admission is $10 per adult, $7 for seniors (65 yrs.), $7 for students and $5 for children 4 – 12 yrs.
If you haven't been to the Plant Museum I recommend it. I went to the Victorian Christmas Stroll and it was wonderful. The staff is so nice, and it's really fun to think about what it was like back when that was THE hotel in Tampa!
That's all for now, but stay tuned for more Things To Do In Tampa Bay, and other Tampa Bay Area Events!
