Tampa Bay & Company representatives recently returned from joint sales mission to South America, in conjunction with Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater (VSPC), which included stops in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
While in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the team attended the Association of Brazil Travel Agents (ABAV) tradeshow, which is the largest travel trade event in South America. ABAV draws nearly 48,000 people annually and is typically saturated with media, providing significant exposure for the destination.
Team Tampa Bay / BrazilFollowing the tradeshow, the team traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil for a sales mission, which included sales calls with media and tour operators, a travel agent educational breakfast where over 40 agents attended, a VIP lunch for 30 tour operators, airline representatives, media and industry officials, and an evening reception hosted by Enterprise Florida.
Team Tampa Bay then headed to Buenos Aires, Argentina where they conducted numerous sales calls with media and tour operators, a second travel agent training breakfast and VIP lunch for tour operators, media and industry officials. The team also attended Feria Internacional de Tourismo (FIT), the largest travel trade event in Argentina.
Team Tampa Bay consisted of Tampa Bay & Company Vice President of Sales, Norwood Smith, Director of Leisure Sales. Shari Bailey, and International Sales Manager Marisol Berrios, as well as VSPC Deputy Director ,David Downing, Brazil representative Leslie Benveniste and Argentina representative Veronica Torrensin with Unique Places. Tampa Bay & Company and VSPC also partnered with VISIT FLORIDA and Enterprise Florida to conduct various activities throughout the mission.
Tampa Bay & Company shares its representation in South America with VSPC in order to promote the region in those markets, which are the #1 and #2 fastest growing international feeder markets to the US, respectively.
The Leisure Sales division of Tampa Bay & Company works closely with partners to bring them together with travel planners, tour operators and other potential clients to provide enhanced business opportunities and, in turn, produce a greater economic impact for Tampa Bay.
