So what's everyone got planned this weekend! I don't know about you, but I am planning to be out and about this weekend. If your are looking to make it a full Valentines day weekend and hang out with your significant other, please feel free to check out my Valentines Day blog post from yesterday!
For the rest of you out there that don't know what this weekend holds for you, or you just get bored... let me give you the lowdown on a few Tampa Bay area events going on this weekend:
Da Vinci - The Genius - Come out and experience opening weekend at MOSI for this much anticipated event. Now also including the new and revealing Secrets of Mona Lisa exhibit from Paris, Da Vinci - The Genius is the most comprehensive exhibition ever assembled on the greatest mind that ever lived. An amazing experience and inspiration for the whole family. Exhibition runs through May 31, 2010.
The Florida State Fair - Be sure to bring your appetite to this event as its the final weekend for the 106th year of this annual event at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Sample items like, deep fried butter, Krispy Kreme burger, spaghetti ice cream, and fair squares!
The Bay Area Renaissance Festival - A medieval plethora of food and entertainment, the Bay Area Renaissance Festival will open this weekend February 13, and run thru March 28 at the MOS grounds off of Fowler and 46th street. Be sure to make it out this weekend, and also be sure to stay tuned to this blog next week as we will be giving away tickets through our normal trivia contests!
$5 Day at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo - It's always gonna be a good day when I can go and see my Meerkat and Giraffe friends for the low low price of five dollars! If your gonna make it out there, I suggest you get there early for parking, as this event is always full, and you can imagine why!
Wild at Heart at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo - Now this event is already sold out, but In honor of Valentine’s Day, singles, couples and groups of friends (ages 21 and up) are invited to the Zoo for a lighthearted look at love in the animal kingdom. This fifth annual tour and progressive dinner will entertain guests with interesting stories about the pairing, partnering and mating habits of our animal residents. Guests are welcomed with romantic refreshments and up-close animal encounters, where they will proceed to various animal habitat areas stopping for salads, candlelight dinner and dessert. The event is open bar. Two tours are offered each night of the event, lasting approximately 3.5 hours.
Wicked at The David A Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts - Had to mention this one folks, as taking in a show is always a good way to start off a date on Valentines Day! Back by "Popular" demand after breaking box office records both times it played TBPAC. "Broadway's biggest blockbuster" (The New York Times) and the winner of 26 major awards, including a Grammy® and three Tony® Awards, The Tampa Tribune calls WICKED "Spellbinding, magical and bewitching. This Broadway phenomenon lives up to its hype."
