Tampa Comic Con Captain Tampa Comic Con Rings

Fans of The Walking Dead, Star Wars and Doctor Who, rejoice!

Tampa Bay Comic Con is coming to town.

The Tampa Convention Center will become the heart of the Nerdiverse Aug. 5-7 with big-name stars from TV and movies joining their fans to celebrate all we love about fantasy and science fiction. Get your tickets here.

This year's chief headliner is Norman Reedus, the crossbow-slinging star of "The Walking Dead" on AMC.

Reedus will join "Star Wars" franchise favorites Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Ray Park (Darth Maul).

Marvel fans will marvel at Charlie Cox, star of Netflix's "Daredevil" series while those fans of a certain Mad Man With a Box will thrill to meet his most recent companion (actress Jenna Coleman, who played Clara).

And a year after premiering his latest film at the Gasparilla International Film Festival, Sean Astin -- Samwise Gamgee himself -- returns to Tampa to talk Tolkien again.

All bets are all on the number of people wandering around downtown in stormtrooper gear, long scarfs or elf ears.

But anyone who works up a thirst booing ruthless King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson from "Game of Thrones") can recover with a pint at Hidden Springs Ale Works, which has $1 off all drinks to guests wearing a Comic Con wrist band or badge. Come in in costume and your first beer is on the house! Hidden Springs is at 1631 North Franklin -- a straight show across downtown from the Tampa Convention Center.
