Tropical Heatwave, Ybor City: Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10
WMNF-‘s 33rd annual festival is one of the country’s largest running festivals and has become an annual rite of Spring for fans of extraordinary and eclectic live music. The festival returns Friday and Saturday at various venues in Ybor City. Rock out to two nights of live music with 55+ bands! Music venues include: Cuban Club (main stage), New World Brewery, Orpheum, Crowbar, Carmine’s and Market on 7th. The music kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday and at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday. Mayor’s Mac & Cheese Throwdown, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park: Saturday, May 10
We’ve all been there… that moment with a macaroni and cheese package says “easy open” and you end up using scissors, a knife, hammer and a light saber using ninja moves trying to open it. Well, Saturday let the pros cook the Mac & Cheese for you! This Saturday, join Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Friends of the Riverwalk for the first ever Mac & Cheese Throwdown! This FREE event is open to the public and will showcase almost 30 local participating restaurants competing to be Tampa Bay’s BEST Mac & Cheese. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and although admission is free, mac & cheese lovers can dive into samples (five samples) for $10 and enjoy beer and wine for $5.
