SHEILA HAYNES: Housekeeper, Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk
With apologies to poet William Carlos Williams, so much depends on fresh towels and clean sheets tucked just so under a pillow. Your mom doesn't live at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk. Lucky for you, you've got Sheila Haynes to take care of you. She is a mom (of four grown children), so she has had this keeping-things-neat-and-orderly bit nailed for a long time. She's dedicated to making her guests feel at home and have a great experience during their stay in Tampa Bay. So say thanks when you see her in the hall.
Where are you from? Pelham, Georgia
How long have you lived in Tampa Bay? 24 Years
Who’s your hero and why? Michael Jordan because he is not a quitter. He is a fighter and just keeps going.
What do you do for fun or hobby? BLACKJACK! I love going to the casino and playing my game, blackjack.
Tell me about your job. As a housekeeper I not only clean the guestrooms but my job is to make sure all of my guests are happy and have everything they need to make their say comfortable.
How long have you done it? 14 years
What do you like about it? The people. People is my job and I AM a people person. I love interacting with the guests and making sure they are taken care of.
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you on the job? A dog. (We are a pet friendly hotel). I was in the hallway and I heard the door open, I went to say hello and a dog just came trotting out. This happened several times, the dog just knew how to open the door!
