If you are anything like me, you watch the news in the morning (and in the afternoon and night) and always wonder what it would be like to meet some of those news anchors in person. Well, anyone who attends the Tampa Bay & Company Annual Luncheon (Sept. 24) will have a chance to get up close and personal with local celebrity and TV news anchor for WFLA News Channel 8, Gayle Sierens!
Gayle will be leading the annual meeting…and with any luck, we’ll all get a taste of the wit and humor that she’s so known for (again, for those of you who are addicted to the news like I am). For those of you who don’t know about Gayle, let me give you a little background on why this should be at the top of your list of things to do in Tampa Bay –
- She joined the Channel 8 staff in 1977 as a weekend sports anchor and reporter and became the 11PM weekday sports anchor in March of 1983.
- In 1984, she was honored with a Florida Emmy Award for sports reporting.
- In 1987, she became the first woman to do play-by-play for an NFL game and appeared weekly on "NFL Live" on NBC.
- In 1991, as a news anchor, she won her second Emmy for news reporting.
With Gayle leading the way, and the entertainment we have lined up for all of you attendees, you won’t want to miss this attraction. If you are interested in attending the luncheon (and how could you not be?), you can log on to the VisitTampaBay website, or click here to get the latest details.
Do you end your day watching Gayle, like so many others??? If so, share your favorite Gayle Sierens moment. Or, if you’ve been to our events before, chime in and let everyone know what they are about to experience.
