Hello all! Jerm here on this fine Monday afternoon to tell you about my latest dining adventure at one of my favorite spots in downtown Tampa!
The Sono Cafe located in the beautiful Tampa Museum of Art, the Sono Cafe overlooks the banks of the Hillsborough River and sets the scene for a beautiful dining experience any day of the week!
I stopped by this past Friday night to sample the Friday Night Menu, with a friend. After checking out the menu and wiping the drool from my face as we were reading, we decided to go off of the appetizer menu. I was in the mood for some Artichoke Dip, Prosciutto, Pesto, Flatbread, which I must say was some of the best I've had! MY friend decided to go with the SONO Meat and Cheese Board, Marinated Olives, Flatbread and Fig Preserve.
Next it was on to the main course, and I figured since I'm in an Italian restaurant, I'd go full on Italiano and try out the Lasagne! I was not at all disappointed folks as the photo to the left will illustrate.
As for the other side of the table, it was all about the delicious seafood option so we also decided to go with the Shrimp salad, and as you can see in the pics, it was quite delicious. Trust me though when I say the pictures don't do it justice!
For dessert we went with the brownie and I also had some of the delicious chocolate gelato, which by the way you'll be hard pressed to find a more amazing gelato than this!
The cool thing about the Friday night menu is you have the choice of a number of menu items in a prix fixe menu format for a mere $25 or feel free to order off of the menu a-la-carte. One thing to keep in mind is that the menu refreshes itself each week so be sure to call in advance to find out what the menu is for that evening.
For a quick history lesson on the name and concept of the cafe, the menu of Sono Café is rooted in Italy – where the concept of ‘Slow Food’ was founded in 1989. It offers guests a range of choices from wine to dessert, and everything in between, and we decided to sample some of that everything in between.
The Sono is open everyday though so be sure to make plans to try it out any day of the week with the schedule below!
