Tampa Bay SportsThe second annual McDonald’s Tampa Hoops Classic presented by Regions Bank featured some of the country’s premier programs December 26th-December 30th.

This basketball tournament featured some of the best high school teams and players throughout the country and locally including Clearwater’s Okaro White (committed to Florida State) and Sickles’ John Henson (committed to North Carolina).

Sixteen schools represented from across Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, New York, Maryland, and Ohio.  They were:

•    Clearwater High School (Clearwater, FL)
•    Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, FL)
•    Gainesville High School (Gainesville, FL)
•    King High School (Tampa, FL)
•    North Lawndale High School (Chicago, IL)
•    North Port High School (North Port, FL)
•    Oak Ridge High School (Oak Ridge, TN)
•    Olympia High School (Orlando, FL)
•    Princeton High School (Cincinnati, OH)
•    Sickles High School (Tampa, FL)
•    St. Mary’s Ryken (Leonardtown, MD)
•    St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
•    Thomas Jefferson High School (Brooklyn, NY)
•    Winter Springs High School (Winter Springs, FL)

The McDonald’s Tampa Hoops Classic took place at Plant High School, Jefferson High School, the USF Corral Gymnasium, and the USF Sun Dome.   
The championship rounds featured Gainesville (Gainesville, FL), Olympia (Orlando, FL), North Lawndale (Chicago, IL), and Princeton (Cincinnati, Ohio).  The semi-final round saw Olympia defeat Gainesville 73-68 and North Lawndale defeat Princeton 53-47. 


The championship action showcased Olympia taking home the crown escaping with a win over North Lawndale 73-71.
