Two of the biggest events of Tampa Bay's annual Gasparilla Season are joining forces in 2017 to create a combined 10-day-long cultural festival of film and music.
The Gasparilla International Film Festival and Gasparilla Music Festival are tent-pole events of the 10-week Gasparilla Season every year. In the past, each has claimed its spot on the calendar with the film festival typically wrapping up the entire season with a 100-film cinematic feast.
This year, the film festival starts early -- March 2 -- and runs through the week, which the musical extravaganza rounding out more than a week of festivities with an other jam-filled party in downtown's Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The schedule coincides with Spring Break for dozens of colleges and universities across the country.
