If you haven’t heard yet or aren’t in town to hear the buzz that’s circling Tampa about Flugtag, then I’m here to fill you in.
I’m sure by now you’ve all heard the Red Bull tagline: “Red Bull gives you wings,” right? Well Red Bull is teaming up with Tampa Bay to put some truth behind the catchy tagline.
This Saturday, Red Bull is throwing their national Flugtag event in the warm waters of Tampa Bay! Come watch as Red Bull crazed citizens make human flying machines and launch themselves off of the Tampa Bay Convention Center roof. The participants will project themselves off of a 30-ft high dock, otherwise known as the “Launch Pad”, located at the back of the convention center to see how far guts and a little engineering will take them.
This will be the first time Red Bull Flugtag has been to Florida since the Miami competition in 2004. The event will boast over 30 outrageous crafts, with names ranging from “Boots Wit Da Fur” to “The Wrong Brothers,” just to name a few. To see the entire list of team names, see sketches of their ‘air’ crafts and learn more about Red Bull Flugtag Tampa Bay, click here.
Tampa has never before seen an event like this! Shoot, I’ve never seen an event like this, and that’s why I’ll be there bright and early with a Red Bull in one hand and my fear for what’s to come in the other.
If you can’t make it, don’t worry, I’ll be writing a post-Flugtag blog to fill you in on what went down - literally. But if you can make it, here’s all the info you’ll need to attend this once in a lifetime event:
