Hey there Tampa. Lisa here with interesting news about Arts and Culture in Tampa Bay.
Ms. Christine Argillet will be appearing in Tampa and St. Pete in support of an exhibition of the extraordinary collection DALI: THE ARGILLET COLLECTION, in January of 2011. The Tampa Bay Area will be the first presentation of this collection.
Madame Argillet is both the Curator of this Dali Collection, as well as the daughter of the famed Pierre Argillet, Salvador Dali's publisher and confidante for over fifty years. Argillet describes this exhibition as "A tribute to the work of my father, Pierre Argillet, as an extraordinary publisher of the Dada and Surrealist group. This collection reflects a constant endeavor and a close collaboration with the artists of these two movements, especially Salvador Dali. My goal is to have this collection presented in the finest museums and galleries in the world."
This collection will be viewable from January 15ht to January 23rd. (The Grand Opening of the new Dali museum in St. Pete is 1/11!!!) Included in the pieces are original etchings, Aubusson Tapestries & original watercolors. The collection will be displayed both in Tampa and in St. Pete.
On Friday, January 21st Christine Argillet will be at the Michael Murphy Gallery in St. Pete from 7-9pm and again the next day from 2-4pm. She will then be in Tampa at the Michael Murphy Gallery January 22nd from 7-9pm and again on the 23rd from 2-4pm. All of these opportunities give you a chance to experience Dali's art in a very unique way, and from someone who had first hand experience with Dali.
