Hey everyone!  Travis here with some great Tampa Bay area events happening this weekend in downtown!  So, without going on too long, here's what's happening:
(Thursday, 9/17) Woodstock is alive and well at 40!  The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts will open its “Burk Uzzle’s Woodstock and Other Americana” exhibition on Thursday (9/17).  This is a unique look at a culturally rich time in America.  Head over to http://fmopa.org/babyboomers_uzzle_magma_rotate.htm to learn more about it.

(Friday, 9/18) How important is green space in downtown?  On Friday (9/18) the Partnership and SuperTest will join together to bring National PARK(ing) Day to downtown.  National PARK(ing) Day is a one-day, global event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to transform parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public parks.

For Tampa PARK(ing) Day 2009, a series of PARK(ing) spaces will be installed along the N. Franklin Street corridor, from Café Hey (just north of I-275) to Madison St. In collaboration with artists, designers, architects and other independent businesses, about a dozen PARK(ing) Day sites will line this pedestrian-friendly route designed to highlight independent businesses and promote creativity, civic engagement, and unscripted social interaction.

Visitors are encouraged to walk, bike or utilize the free electric cart shuttles to tour and relax in all of the Tampa PARK(ing) Day spaces.
(Friday 9/18) The American Victory Ship will kick off its Fall/Winter season of activities with a Harley Davidson BikeFest!  Get all the details about this and other exciting events the American Victory Ship will bring to downtown Tampa by clicking here

(Friday, 9/18) The Tampa Bay Lightning will host a pre-season game against Atlanta. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. so get your tickets early!

(Saturday, 9/19) Downtowners, get involved in your community!  The Tampa Bay Dragon Boats will hold a mini regatta on Saturday.  This is a great way to try this sport out for those who have never done Dragon Boat racing or for those pros out there new to the community, come out and meet others who enjoy Dragon Boat racing.

(Saturday, 9/19) Make your way to Channelside Bay Plaza on Saturay (9/19) for “Chalk for the Cure” event.  A benefit for the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation, local artists will be “chalking” their representation of hope.  The event takes place from noon to 5 p.m.
(Sunday, 9/20) Stageworks invites you to bowl for them at Spitsville on Sunday!  Stageworks is the community theater raising funds to build out their space at Grand Central at Kennedy.  This is a family event, so bring the kids!  “Bowling for Stageworks” will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Put a team together.  All bowlers must be pre-registered.  To do so, send an e-mail to grahamandi@aol.com or call (813) 784-6832
