NAESP in Tampa Bay

Elementary and middle school principals from around the nation will be attending the National Association of Elementary School Principals' (NAESP) Annual Convention and Exposition, taking place from April 7-10 at the Tampa Convention Center. The convention, which is the largest national gathering of K-8 educators, will empower principals to better lead their schools, teachers, and students to success.

Highlights of the Annual Convention in Tampa includes:

•    Community Service Day at Tampa's Booker T. Washington Elementary School

During the NASEP Annual Convention & Exposition Elementary and middle school principals from around the nation will be demonstrate their commitment to volunteerism and shaping the long-term impact of school improvement efforts byputting in sweat equity on April 7 to transform a Tampa elementary school as part of the their third annual Community Service Day.

In addition, on April 9th students from Tampa's Dowdell Middle Magnet School will get a first-hand look at the fun of environmental sustainability, with the Green Fair which will highlight the effectiveness of sustainability education and will showcase the role that students can play in making a positive impact in protecting the world around them,  including opportunities to build and race a solar car, create trash "art," and participate in a recycling relay race.

NAESP’s convention, which is being held April 7-11 at the Tampa Convention Center, strives to provide principals with knowledge and experiences that will enrich them as education leaders and help them find new and innovative ways to lead students, features more than 75 concurrent sessions on issues of critical importance to strengthening elementary education, including: classroom evaluation, leading for change, professional learning teams, school culture, and technology supporting accountability and communication.
