Only about 15-20 minutes north of downtown Tampa is one of my newest and favorite gems, Dempsey’s Steak House. Nestled inside Saddlebrook Resort this restaurant takes Dine Tampa Bay Restaurant Week to another level. The three course, prix-fixe menu is priced at $45 and by looking at their dinner menu, this may be the BEST deal Dine Tampa Bay Restaurant Week has to offer. The ambiance is comfortably elegant yet casual enough to dress like you are on vacation. As a matter of fact… thanks to Dine Tampa Bay Restaurant Week hotel deals you can make a whole vacation around it! Now through September 30 Saddlebrook Resort is offering Dine Tampa Bay guests a discounted rate at $129 per night. Just mention promo code “July Jackpot” when you make your resort reservation (813-907-4401).
Get your dinner started with custom cocktails! A few of our table favorites were the Tennis Ball (the exact color of a tennis ball) and my personal favorite, the Dempsey’s signature martini, The Fountain of Youth. A perfect mix of quality vodka, elderflower and watermelon puree. Not the sweetness you would expect, just smooth. I bet you can’t just have one!
Now, let’s talk food!
Dempsey’s Steakhouse Dine Tampa Bay three-course menu items starts with a choice of the New England Clam Chowder or Salad options. The New England Clam Chowder is delicious and smooth with consistent under notes of clam and exceptionally smoky! As far as salad options you can choose from the most palet-pleasing salad bar ever or the wedge salad. The salad bar at Dempsey’s could be a meal in itself. Full of fresh ingredients, fancy cheeses, and more! I can guarantee the salad bar will not disappoint you.
On to the Entrées… Dine Tampa Bay guests have the choice of a Flame Broiled Petit Pilet , Featured Fish of the Evening or Sautee of Shrimp and Scallops. The Flame Broiled Petit Fil et is lean, tender and a ged to perfection. The filet rests on a heap of garlic smashed potatoes, sugar snap peas and life changing (I am not kidding) sun dried, roasted tomatoes. If you decide on the Petit Filet, my insider tip is to ask for the table-side Merlot butter to top off your steak, just trust me on this one. As far as the Featured Fish of the evening, Dempsey’s only serves the best and freshest fish. During our dining experience we had a savory Chilean Sea Bass (Did you know the real name of the fish is Patagonian toothfish, but that just sounds vicious, so let’s stick with Chilean sea bass instead) over sautéed spinach and roasted fingerling potatoes. Dempsey’s prides itself in bringing only the best seafood to their guests with fresh fish and seafood delivered daily to the restaurant. The third choice is the Sautee of Shrimp and Scallops, also a tasty treat. The shrimp and scallops are served over vegetables and a delicious, buttery, golden couscous and for an added bonus charred avocado. Good luck choosing between these three entrées! My suggestion, take three people and try all of them. They are all sooooo good!
Hope you saved room for dessert! For the final course enjoy a “classic trio” of carrot cake, chocolate cake and key lime pie. Don’t let their size fool you folks. These little guys are packed with flavor! The carrot cake has the most amazingly delicious cream cheese icing and the chocolate cake tastes rich and homemade while the key lime is the perfect combination of sweetness and tartness.
I think it’s time for you to experience Dempsey’s and now is a great time to make a mini-staycation (that means more fountains of youth martinis…. Yay!) and food-cation out of it! And be sure to check out our Dempsey's Steak House photo album on the Dine Tampa Bay facebook page.
