Tampa Bay Rays 3rd baseman, Evan Longoria, has been
named Jackie Robinson AL Rookie of the Year by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. And he didn’t just scrape by with a win; he took all 28 first-place votes!

We are all so proud of how great our Rays did this season, going from one of the worst teams in the league to making it to Game 5 of the World Series. The whole team pulled together to give us a memorable season.

Longoria showcased his talents all season by hit hitting .272 with 27 home runs and 85 RBIs in 122 games. Longoria was also the first rookie third baseman to his three home runs in one game since 1952 in a September game against the Twins.

Congratulations Evan Longoria, AL Rookie of the Year! A well-deserved honor!
