Hey everyone! Travis back with an Tampa Bay area events update! If you are a fan of Ybor City history and culture, much like I am, then listen up! Marti-Maceo's Free Afro-Cuban Music Event this Friday!
Here are the details -
The Afro-Cuban All Stars, a 15-piece Powerhouse orchestra, led by Juan de Marcos Gonzales show the wealth, diversity and vitality of Cuban music. This group has raised the profile of the music of Cuba throughout the world. The Afro-Cuban All Stars embrace the rich diversity of Cuba's musical output, from dance to jazz, classical to rap. The group utilizes the full range of the country's heritage to build the sounds of the future.
The outstanding group will appear tonight at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in a full performance of their musical talents. Also, on Friday morning, April 10 at 10:00 a.m., four or five members of the musical ensemble will appear in a demonstration and lecture on the vast variety of Afro-Cuban music at Sociedad La Union Marti-Maceo, one of the four cultural clubs in Historic Ybor City located at 1226 E. 7th Avenue.
This is a free admission event, and the members of Marti-Maceo cordially invite the community to attend. A light repast will be served. Parking is available at the near by Noriega Parking Garage, located on the corner of Nuccio Parkway and 9th Avenue.
