Hey folks...as promised, and in our efforts to bring you the best Tampa Bay entertainment and Tampa Bay area events, we are bringing you more updates about this year's Florida Strawberry Festival.

So, as always, here's today's update straight from the folks in Plant City -

It's Military Day at this year's Florida Strawberry Festival®, courtesy of Winn-Dixie. Active, reserve and retired military, with valid I.D. will be admitted free all day. Gates open at 10 a.m., and it's also a Ride-a-Thon Day from 3 to 11 p.m. A wristband purchased on the Midway for $17 entitles the wearer to ride most mechanical rides an unlimited amount of times.

Visit the folks from Winn-Dixie in the West Grandstand area to pick up coupons for savings.  They will be on-site all day to talk to guests about their special strawberry ice cream in stores now.  The ice cream features berries from local growers at Wishnatski Farms.

At 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. & 4:00 p.m., the Jason Young Band will have things hopping in the Coop Whip Strawberry Tent.  They're new to the Festival this year, and they perform a bit of country, a bit of rock n' roll and oldies, and they are so popular!  Jason is warm, he engages the audience, and guests truly enjoy singing and clapping along.

A walk through the Neighborhood Village, sponsored by Kitchen Craft, will give guests a chance to see the homemade and handcrafted items created by people in the community including baking, cake decorating, food preservation, home decoration items, jewelry and needlework.

In the newly improved and expanded livestock area the Rabbit and Poultry Show starts at 3 p.m., and the Youth Steer Show is at 6 p.m. in the TECO Livestock Arena. It's a great time to see the fine youth livestock exhibitors and support them as they show their animals.

The pro bicycle, inline and skateboard stunt teams perform their tricks in the Bikes, Boards & Blades shows at 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on the north side of the Festival Office.  Sponsored by Netterfield's Concessions, each show is full of non-stop, action-packed excitement.

There are two concerts on the GTE Federal Credit Union Soundstage today. At 3:30 p.m. it's Brenda Lee and at 7:30 p.m. it's Ray Stevens. Tickets for both shows are on sale for $10 and $15 each at the stadium ticket office, or the Main Ticket Office at Gate 1. There are also free (with paid gate admission) seats available on a first come, first seated basis in the Edy’s® & Häagen-Dazs® grandstands.

And there you go!  Everything you need to know about today at the Florida Strawberry Festival.  So, head on out and stop back in and let us know how it was.

And, keep checking back for more updates about great things to do in Tampa Bay.  As we get closer and closer to summer, we'll bring you more great Tampa Bay area events to enjoy in the beautiful Tampa Bay weather.
