Two of Tampa’s most well-known attractions welcomed new-born babies this spring!

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is already known for bringing us face-to-face with some of nature’s most majestic creatures, but now the zoo is giving Tampa even more reason to celebrate! Jiyu, an endangered Indian Rhino whose name means “compassionate friend”, was born to a mother Rhino at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo on May 9. The new-born is a member of one of only two species of single-horned Rhino’s on Earth, and represents a victory in the fight to keep these amazing animals from extinction. The birth of baby Jiyu comes less than two months after three endangered Malayan Tiger cubs were born at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The tiger cubs, each weighing between six and seven pounds, are part of an collaborative effort to preserve the Malayan Tiger species, of which less than 1,500 remain in the wild.

Animal lovers, stay tuned for more information on how these adorable creatures are settling in at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay!
