After recently hosting the 2010 U.S. Rowing Convention in December at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, the Stewards Foundation of Tampa Bay turns its attention to welcoming more than 20 colleges and universities for winter and spring training.

Over the next month the U.S. National Adaptive Team, Ontario Canoe/Kayak Team, University of Michigan (women), and the Emma Willard School will commence training in downtown Tampa. College rowing training concludes in March with eight teams training in Tampa, including:
  • Loyola; Rutgers Camden
  • St. Lawrence University

  • Greenwich Academy
Several teams have already concluded training in Tampa this season, including the University of Michigan; Indiana University; Georgetown; George Washington University; University of Louisville (women); University of Iowa; Rutgers; Loyola MD; College of William & Mary; and Drake University.

After team training, the rowing continues with the 4th Annual Tampa Mayor's Cup Rowing Regatta, which will be held at the Tampa Bay Bypass Canal on March 19, 2011. The Tampa Mayor's Cup is one of the premier rowing events in the State of Florida and southeastern United States.

The racecourse hosts a 1,000-, 1,500- and 1,850-meter buoyed course.
The competition includes separate events for Masters, Colleges and Junior level athletes. Over 750 rowing athletes and well over 2,000 spectators and coaches will be on-hand to participate in this event.
