Rainy Day Blues?
I think we can all agree the weather has been quite unpleasant this past week. Well, good news is the cold weather is leaving and today we’ve got a rainy day with a high of 76, ehhhh not too bad. So, if the rainy weather’s got you down and you’ve got those rainy day blues… Here are 5 rainy day activities to do today in Tampa Bay.
The Hound of the Baskervilles, Jobsite Theater
Ok, so I was a Sherlock Holmes fan as a kid and actually went to see the special preview performance last night. Folks, this is not your typical play of the eerie Sherlock Holmes mystery and the ancient family curse of Sir Henry Baskerville and his family. The show is hilarious, absolutely hilarious! Expect multiple twists, turns and surprises and hats off to the witty 3-person cast who kept the audience entertained throughout the entire play. And bravo to the musical director for the mix of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana jams (in symphonic form) during set changes and intermissions. The show runs throughout Feb. 2nd. Thursdays (tonight) 8 p.m., Fridays 8 p.m., Saturdays 8 p.m., Sundays 4 p.m. Tickets $28
Columbia Restaurant, Tampa’s Historic Latin Quarter, Ybor City
Today is the perfect day to grab lunch at one of Tampa’s most unique gems in Ybor City. The Columbia Restaurant is full of historic charm. Florida’s oldest restaurant and the largest Spanish restaurant in the world, the Columbia features award-winning Spanish/Cuban cuisine. My recommendation for this rainy day… a classic 1905 salad and a bowl of piping hot garbanzo bean soup. Warm your soul and take in all the culture. http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/
Tampa Bay History Center, downtown Tampa’s Channel District
I tell visitors and friends all the time, our history center is a MUST-SEE, MUST-DO in Tampa and the perfect start to any vacation. The Tampa Bay History Center chronicles the area’s growth and heritage through cutting-edge, interactive exhibits and is absolutely one of Tampa’s premier cultural attractions. History buffs and those into maps, the current Florida Map exhibit, Charting the Land of Flowers - 500 Years of Florida Maps is a must! There is plenty to do (and keep dry) as you travel through 12,000 years of powerful stories. http://www.tampabayhistorycenter.org/
BOING! Jump Center, 622 S. Ware Blvd., Tampa
For those looking to get those super-charged kids out of the house or even big kids wanting to defy gravity, today’s rainy day forecast makes it the perfect day to check out Tampa’s largest indoor trampoline arena. Jump around, compete in a friendly game of dodge ball and even test your gaming skills in the arcade. There is plenty of fun to be had with the entire family! http://boingjumpcenter.com/
Buddy Brew, Oxford Exchange
Located in the atrium of the beautiful Oxford Exchange, Buddy Brew Coffee bar serves hot, cold and specialty coffee beverages using the freshest beans, globally sourced and locally artisan roasted. This is the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and get lost in your favorite book on this rainy day. Nestle in one of their super-comfortable, tufted leather sofas and stay a while. Looking for a new book to read? Oxford Exchange has their own book store on site with an amazing and unique collection of well-curated, classic and contemporary books for any kind of bookworm. http://oxfordexchange.com/
