BILLION BOUND 2025
Tourism is an economic engine that runs 24/7. And, directly or indirectly, it touches the lives of everyone in Tampa Bay every day. More than 23.6 million visitors pour billions of dollars into the local economy through hotels, bars & restaurants, shopping, transportation, and attractions. The ripples reach into every corner of the community, from grocery stores and gas stations to school clothes and staycations.
With that in mind, Visit Tampa Bay has launched “Billion Bound 2025,” a destination-wide campaign to generate $1 billion in overall hotel revenue by 2025. While hotels are the benchmark, they are only part of the bigger picture – about 21 percent of the picture, to be precise. Achieving $1 billion in hotel revenue will mean ultimately creating more than $7.5 billion in economic impact across Hillsborough County. That will mean thousands more jobs, millions of dollars in government revenue, and even more investment in the community.
This project comes with its challenges, but we believe a rising tide of tourism has the power to lift all boats, whether it’s a kayak on the Hillsborough River or a cruise ship docked at Port Tampa Bay. We invite you to join us in this quest as we chart a course to the future riding a wave of tourism.
