From the Bronx to the Bay, New York Yankees Heat up Spring Training

New York Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner FieldTampa Bay is buzzing for the return of the New York Yankees during Spring Training. Pitchers and catchers have already arrived and the full squad will report to the field this week. Soon, Yankee fans will flock to George M. Steinbrenner Field to catch their favorite Bronx Bombers.

Founded in 1901, the original club was established in Baltimore, Maryland, and known as the Baltimore Orioles. It wasn't until 1903 that the team moved to New York City and became the New York Highlanders, before taking "Yankees" as their official name in 1913.

The New York Yankees bring rich tradition and a dedicated fan base to Tampa Bay. With Spring Training right around the corner, we want to give you some inside tips to scoring a home run experience during your visit in March or April.

Let's start with Steinbrenner Field. For first time visitors don't expect your typical spring training ballpark. This stadium brings the Bronx straight to Tampa Bay with the entrance into the ballpark located right behind home plate. It is a mini version of New York's Monument Park, big and bold. It also has one of the largest seating capacities in Florida's Grapefruit League, officially seating more than 10,000 fans. Jointly located to Steinbrenner Field are two half fields and a full practice field with bleacher seating, concessions and bathrooms. A Yankee's insider reveals your best bet at getting an autograph of your favorite player is to get there early and head to the back fields first.

The first game is Sunday, February 24 against the Toronto Blue Jays and games run through the end of March. To cool off from the heat be sure to reserve an Upper Reserved seat at the first base side or behind home plate. Yankees Spring Training single game tickets are very reasonable, on sale and range from $17 to $33. See you at the ballpark!
