Tampa Bay & Company CEO Kelly Miller Steps Down
Nationwide search for replacement gets underway immediately
Tampa, Fla. (Oct. 31, 2012) - Kelly Miller has resigned as President/CEO of Tampa Bay & Company. During Kelly's time with Hillsborough County's official destination marketing organization, he successfully led the organization through improvements in the company's sales and marketing efforts; a record 10 months of consecutive, positive hotel performance; and a very successful 2012 Republican National Convention (RNC).
"We appreciate the leadership Kelly has provided this past year to market and promote this world-class meeting, convention and vacation destination," said Jim Dean, chairman of the Tampa Bay & Company Board of Directors and president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. "We know Kelly will be successful in his next endeavor. We will immediately begin a national search for a new president/CEO to lead Tampa Bay & Company."
"I'm at a time in my life when I had to make some very tough personal choices for the well-being of both myself and my family, which ultimately led to my decision to step down," said Miller. "We have a fantastic staff, management team and board of directors at Tampa Bay & Company. Through their leadership, I have no doubt that Tampa Bay will continue to shine and build upon the momentum we achieved from hosting the RNC."
"Last week at our 27th Annual Meeting, I outlined the organization's four priorities for the next year," said Dean. "I am confident we have the right team and board of directors in place to meet and exceed these challenging priorities and benchmark goals."
In the short-term, the board of directors has named Greg Orchard as acting President/CEO of Tampa Bay & Company. Orchard currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for Tampa Bay & Company.
"Greg is well-known in the Tampa Bay region as a strong leader, tireless supporter of the tourism industry and passionate about Tampa Bay," said Dean. "Through Greg's leadership during this transition, Tampa Bay & Company will continue to be one of the nation's leading destination marketing organizations."
