The 11th Annual Cigar Heritage Festival, one of the best festivals in the Tampa Bay area will become the gathering place for aficionados, manufacturers, and retailers of some of the world’s finest cigars and accessories. The day promises to be spectacular for not only lovers of fine cigars, but will offer cultural entertainment and nonstop fun for the whole family. The Festival will feature also feature an attempt to break the current Guinness Book ‘World’s Longest Cigar’ record by Master Cigar Makers Wallace and Margarita Reyes. The Reyes’ and team will attempt to make a 180’ cigar!

Best Buddies Tampa will host its annual charity fundraiser, Tampa’s Toast & Taste, on Saturday, November 21, at 7 p.m. at Taps. This event will provide participants the opportunity to see firsthand what Best Buddies Tampa contributes to our community while enjoying an evening of delectable food and wine tastings, as well as an exceptional live and silent auction. Entertainment, special guests, and an official after-party will top off this dazzling event. On Thursday, May 28, MOSI will display Berkeley Preparatory School’s Recycled Globe. The globe is composed of 8,000 eight ounce recycled water bottles, a recycled aluminum frame and over 700 square feet of recycled chicken wire. The creation of the globe took Berkeley Preparatory parents and alumni six weeks and over 300 hours to finish; they made the globe into four parts and then carefully put them together. FREE with paid admission.

The globe is 11 feet in diameter and weighs about 300 pounds. The globe was created for a fundraiser called, “Blue Earth,” in order to illustrate environmentally friendly ways to make a positive difference in the world

Tarpon Tales and Sport Fishing in Early Florida examines the phenomena of sport fishing from the late 1800’s to the 1930’s on the west coast of Florida. While sitting in a Hemingway era fighting chair, a visitor’s fantasy of the “great catch” will be enhanced by vintage photographs, mounted fish, rods, Edward vom Hofe reels, lures, tackle, gear, nets and souvenir tarpon scales.

Venue Ensemble Theatre (VET) will present ART by Yasmina Reza, Nov 6 to Nov 22, 2009 at Venue Theatre, 9125 US 19 N, Pinellas Park, FL.

ART not only explores the simple question “What is Art?” but also expertly explores the complicated question “What is Friendship?” If one of your best friends just spent 200,000 Francs on an all-white five foot canvas, what does that say about him? What does that say about you? Winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play. Winner of the 1996 Olivier Award for Best Comedy.

ART is directed by Michael Holden and stars Steve DuMouchel, Eric Misener, and Mark Myers.

Performances are November 6 - 22, 2009. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 pm and Sunday at 3 pm. Creative Clay (www.creativeclay.com) is our designated benefit organization for this production. Venue Theatre donates a portion of the proceeds from every ticket sold to the benefit organization.
