Fun With Segway Tours in Tampa Bay!

Segway Tours in Ybor CityAttention to all of those looking for a fun and unique experience! Segway Experience at Ybor City offers you a one-of-a-kind way to see Tampa Bay…on two wheels!

For only $65 per person, you can choose from three different 2-hour tours:

Historic Ybor Tour
Enjoy a glide back in time on the bustling sidewalks of Ybor City. This historic tour will expose you to the origins of Tampa's Latin Quarter and its beginnings as a cigar manufacturing town. Its skilled Cuban residents rolled some of the finest cigars from the imported Cuban tobacco that was readily available from nearby Havana ports.

You'll learn about this multi-cultural city and the importance of the immigrant communities that created it. At one time a separate city from Tampa, Ybor has always had a rich influence from Spanish, Italian, German, Cuban and other populations who still run the eclectic café's, artist’s studios, and shops of Ybor. Ybor brings you a feast for the senses, and you’re bound to smell the roasting coffee beans and the fresh tobacco. Ybor is a treat for those who love local restaurants, and who want to revel in "old Florida". As you glide through town with a guide to show you the landmarks and the local flavor, you're easily able to imagine life in Tampa in another era.

The Riverwalk Tour
A refreshing ride along the Tampa Riverwalk. Your journey will take you along beautiful Tampa Bay and you’ll learn about the original Indian settlement and Tampa history.
You’ll also glide by the St. Pete Times Forum- Home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay History Center, Tampa Convention Center and the Jose Gasparilla Pirate Ship. The journey continues to Franklin Street’s pedestrian mall through downtown Tampa and ends at the ornate Tampa Theatre, a city landmark. On our return, you’ll glide along the Hillsborough River with majestic views of the University of Tampa by the Glazer Children's Museum, The Florida Aquarium and Port of Tampa.

Cigar and Café Con Leche Tour
Indulge in the best of Ybor, and savor the coffee and cigars of this famous, almost-Cuban city?
Then let us take you to some of the best stops of the historic tour route, and watch, smell, taste, sit and enjoy. This tour spends a bit less time gliding – and a lot more time savoring this exquisite area! We’ll still share all the best history with you, but you'll also visit the Naviera Coffee Mills for "Café Con Leche". The roasting master will demonstrate how Cuban coffee is prepared and you'll walk the roasting line. In keeping with the best of Ybor, you’ll also visit the cigar specialty shops to witness skilled rollers. The best cigars are still hand rolled today, as they were back in the late 19th century when Ybor was born.

There’s nothing cooler than modern day technology! Segways bring a new edge to the tourism industry and we are so excited to offer this experience here in Tampa!

Segway Experience is located right on 8th Ave at Centro Ybor and you can reserve your tour today by calling (813) 455-7854 or emailing YborCityTours@Segway.com. *Group tour prices are also offered.

Our very own Stamkos is on the cover of EA Sports 'NHL 12' Video Game

Congrats Stamkos!Well Tampa Bay Lightning fans, the good news just keeps on coming! Lisa here with another awesome announcement for our Bolts.

Steve Stamkos is featured on this years NHL 12 Video Game. But what makes it even more special is that it's been his favorite game since he was 6. He even bought last years game and played it with some of the guys in Tampa.

The announcement came on Wednesday night at the NHL awards in Las Vegas. Stamkos, 21 quickly became a league store after being selected with the first overall pick in the 2008 NHL draft. In the past two seasons he has scored 96 goals and was a co-winner of the 2010 Rocket Richard Trophy as the league's top goal scorer.

Stamkos isn't the first Lightning player to be on the cover, Vinny Lecavalier was featured in 2006. And of course EA Sports has changed things up again, by adding dynamic goalie interaction, goalie fights and net battles to this years game. You can even play a Winter Classic.

"I've grown up playing EA Sports NHL video games so it's an honor to be chosen for the cover this year," Stamkos said. "I love how authentic the game is and thought it was great when I scored a one-knee, one-timer goal as myself in the NHL 12."

Congratulations Stamkos, you deserve it! That's all I have now, but I can't wait until the Bolts are back in the St. Pete Times Forum lighting up the ice.

Check in later for more Things to do in Tampa Bay!

Lightning Ranked No.2 in ESPN'S Ultimate Standings

Just when you thought we were done for the season, the Tampa Bay Lightning are at it again! Lisa here, with an update on our Bolts.

Our Tampa Bay Lightning have been named the No. 2 franchise in sports according to ESPN The Magazine's ninth annual "Best Franchises in Sports" rankings, in the "Best in Sports Issue." Our Bolts finished behind the NFL's Green Bay Packers. The Lightning made the largest jump of all teams, improving 68 places from No. 70 last season.

Now I'm going to try and help you understand how they come up with these rankings. The "Best Franchises in Sports" feature is part of ESPN The Magazine's Ultimate Standings methodology study, which determines and overall ranking for pro sports franchises according to how much they give back to fans for their time, money and emotion they invest in them.

"The teams at the top of our Ultimate Standings are winners on the field, but, as we write in the magazine, they're truly notable for returning fans' love - keeping core players, discounting tickets, investing in their communities." Says the editor Peter Keating.

The rankings are determined by a multi-tiered analysis that examines a team's efficiency in spending fan money as compared to its on-field performance. It also factors in feedback in 21 categories from more than 70,000 fans nationwide, bot online and in polling conducted by independent third parties.

We can thank our owner Jeff Vinik for beginning our amazing transformation. When he purchased the lightning last year, he pledged to turn us into a "world-class organization." To prove it, he hired Hockey Hall -of-Famer and four-time Stanley Cup Champion Steve Yzerman as vice president and general manager.

In January of 2011 Vinik announced a detailed vision that included a new logo and jersey, $35 million in privately-funded building renovations to the St. Pete Times Forum, $10 million in community donations and 4,000 hours of community service each season.

The fans have reacted immediately by increasing attendance 11.3% (the best in the league) from 2009-2010. The Tampa Bay Lightning also sold out eight playoff games, averaging nearly 21,000 fans per game.Congrats on No. 2 Lightning

Way to go Lightning! That's all for now, but I'm sure I'll have more Tampa Florida News soon!

The Lightning Bolt out of Tampa in style

Hey Tampa, Lisa here with an update on your Tampa Bay Lightning.Bolts fans at the Airport Sunday

So in case you haven't heard we are tied 2-2 heading into game 5 TONIGHT. I'm not sure if you had a chance to watch the game Saturday, but I really hope you did. After a not great first period we came back to win it 5-3 with a nice empty net goal at the end.

The series is back in Boston tonight and in order to show our support fans gathered at the airport yesterday to cheer on our team. Not only did they cheer and stand out in the hot mid-day sun, but they also did it in the form of a lightning bolt. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Now for the 411 on the rest of this series. Like I said game 5 is TONIGHT. And there is a watch party at the St. Pete Times Forum. Free parking is available in the Forum West Lot and the VIP East Lot on a first come, first serve basis. There will also be food and drink specials, entertainment, music, games and much more. You can bring chairs, blankets and coolers with food and non-alcoholic beverages.

The game starts at 8, but the party starts at 6:30. If you haven't watched a game outside at the Forum, you really should it's the biggest screen I've ever watched a game on and it was awesome!

After tonight, the series comes back to Tampa for game 6 on Wednesday and that game also starts at 8. If need be, game 7 will be in Boston on Friday night at 8pm.

So get out there and cheer on the Bolts!

That's it for now, but stay tuned for more Things To Do In Tampa Bay, and other Tampa Bay Area Events!

Alegria a Cirque du Soleil show is coming to Tampa!!!!

Hey, listen up. Lisa here with some Arts and Culture in Tampa Bay.In town June 22-26th

This summer Cirque Du Soleil's show Alegria will be in town for four days only, for eight shows. Alegria actually premiered in 1994 in Montreal with a cast of 55 performers and musicians representing 15 countries. After starting under the big top, this show is now played in arenas all over the world.

Alegria is Spanish for elation, joy and jubilation. This theme is mirrored through flamboyant costumes, original music, elaborate sets, and the amazing mix of athleticism and artistry the performers bring to the table.

They have the high energy Aerial High Bars, where daring aerialists fly to catchers swinging more than 40 feet above the stage. There's the Mongolian art of contortion, the daring Fire-Knife Dance and of course synchronized choreography and tumbling on a trampoline system hidden in the flooring.

So now the important information. How do you get St. Pete Times Forum Tickets for this incredible event? Well you can simply go onilne and find what suites your needs. The shows are on Wednesday, June 22nd at 7:30pm; Thursday, June 23rd at 7:30pm; Friday, June 24th at 3:30pm and 7:30pm; Saturday, June 25th at 3:30pm and 7:30pm; and Sunday, June 26th at 1pm and 5pm.

They have three different tiers of tickets. There are adult tickets ranging from $40-$79; Children tickets (12 and under), ranging from $32 - $64; and Military/Senior/Student tickets ranging from $36-$67.50.

That's all for now, but check in later for more Things To Do In Tampa Bay, and other Tampa Bay Area Events!

Your Tampa Bay Lightning Sweep Recap

What a sweep, sweep win!!!Let's go Bolts, Let's go Bolts, Let's go Bolts!!!!! Lisa here with your Sweep recap of the Lightning's last four games.

Let's rewind to not even a week ago and get this party started. The first game of this series was on Friday, April 29th in Washington DC. We managed to win that game with a comfortable score of 4-2. Goals being scored by Bergenheim, Downie, Stamkos, and Moore; with Roloson in goal. The second game in DC took place on Sunday, May 1st. Lecavalier is to be thanked for our win in overtime that evening. He also scored one other goal as did St. Louis. Clearly Roloson was still in goal.

Then the series came back to Tampa Bay, and the St. Pete Times Forum on Tuesday, May 3rd. We won this game with the help of Bergenheim, Lecavalier, Stamkos and Malone. Roloson played an amazing game, and we could not have won without him. Last nights game was the end of it all with a 5-3 win, including an empty net goal at the end (those are my favorites). Malone, Bergenheim (Scored twice), Begeron, and St. Louis all scored; with Roloson lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to victory, and a series sweep.

I was perusing the Tampa Bay Lightning website today, looking for St. Pete Times Forum Tickets to the next series and learned a few things I want to share with you. First of all tickets are not on sale yet because we don't know who we will be playing.

The beauty of sweeping is that you get done early, which gives the players time to practice and rest so they are ready for the next round. Right now we are waiting for the winner of the Boston vs. Philadelphia series to be crowned, and currently Boston is up 3 games to 0. Their next game is Friday, so that is the earliest we will know who we play.

The second thing I learned on the Tampa Bay Lightning website is this statistic, and it literally made my jaw drop; "Dwayne Roloson's current 6 game winning streak is the second-longest ever in one playoff year by a goaltender who is at least 40 years old, behind only Jaques Plante who won eight straight playoff games for the St. Louis Blue in 1969 at age 40."

So here's to you Dwayne Roloson, without whom we would not be sweeping up the competition.

That's all for now Tampa, but I'm sure I'll be back soon with other Tampa Florida News!

Game 3 is TONIGHT!!!

Hey Tampa, Lisa here witLightning Vs. The Capitals TONIGHTh more hockey news!

As I was driving home last night from the grocery store, I noticed yet another GO BOLTS banner at the Tampa Convention Center. Like I said yesterday, Tampa is going BOLTS crazy and I love it.

Currently I feel a little like a kid waiting for Christmas morning, I am that excited to be one of the screaming Bolts fans attending the game this evening. I've got my tickets and my Tampa Bay Lightning gear, I'm set.

I did just go online to the St. Pete Times Forum website to get the scoop for this evenings game. First, it looks like the main ticket page is sold out. But I looked into the ticket exchange section of the website (on the left under the ticket tab) and there are St Pete Times Forum tickets still available (though I would act fast).

Second, this game is early, it's at 6:30!!! And you will want to get there early to be able to grab one of the FREE t-shirts!!!! Yes I said FREE!!!! Once you get your shirt, wear it (I promise everyone else will too).

I also found an interesting statistic on the Lightning website. Going into tonights game, the Tampa Bay Lightning penalty kill is 97.8%, making this the highest mark of any team through the first 9 games of the playoffs since the 1987-88 season.

Lastly and most importantly, I am going to continue to encourage you to go online and donate to the Beard-A-Thon. I've checked it out, and there are some mighty good beards.

If you aren't heading to the Forum tonight, head out with some friends and watch the game somewhere!

Ok I think I've gone on long enough about the Lightning, but I can't wait for tonight! LET'S GO BOLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's all I've got, but check in later for other Things To Do In Tampa Bay!

LET'S GO BOLTS!!!

Lightning

HEY TAMPA!!! Ya that's right I'm yelling at you! Listen up! The Tampa Bay Lightning are coming back to town TOMORROW night for game 3 of the second round.

Lisa here, with your Tampa Bay Lightning information!

So here's the deal. We are playing the Washington Capitals. Now for those who don't know, they are ranked #1 (we are #5). So far, we have beaten them in both games. Meaning, we only need to win two more to go on to the next round.

Here's what I need from you. The city of Tampa is turning into a Bolts Nation before my eyes.  But I want to see a sign in every window, on every car, and heck you could even carry one around! Being in the playoffs is a big deal, and being in this round being up by two games is AWESOME!

I am clearly obsessed with Hockey, and went to one of the games last round. I was over the moon with the feeling inside the arena the night I went. This time, I think the atmosphere will be even better. And if you've been watching you know we are playing some seriously awesome hockey.

So ticket information. You can obviously go online, or stop by the box office (Open from 9am-6pm) at The St. Pete Times Forum to get your tickets. But here's the catch!  DON'T  WAIT TOO LONG!!! This game will sell out, and trust me when I say you want a seat. The game is TOMORROW night at 6:30pm. Be sure to get there early to see all of the action.

Also continuing throughout the playoffs is the annual Beard-A-Thon. You can head online to see the participants and their ever growing beards. This fundraiser helps the Lightning with their Lightning Foundation. The goal of the foundation is to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Foundations Cut for a Cure. So head online and donate now!

That's all from me, but stay tuned for more Tampa Bay Area Events, and other Things To Do In Tampa Bay! I better see you at the game tomorrow! LET'S GO BOLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
