Outback BowlAuburn University and the Northwestern University will do battle in the 2010 Outback Bowl on New Year's Day in Tampa, Florida. The Tigers will return to the bowl for the first time in 14 years while this will be the Wildcats first appearance in the bowl.

The Tigers feature one of the top offenses in the SEC led by TB Ben Tate, a semi-finalist for the Doak Walker Award given to the nation's top running back, and DE Antonio Coleman, a First-Team All SEC selection in 2008.  And the Wildcats boast one of the most successful offenses in the Big Ten, leading the league in First Downs and ranking second in Passing Offense and Third Down Conversions.  They are led by QB Mike Kafka, who completed a Big Ten best 65.7% of his passes, and All-Big Ten Safety Brad Phillips.

Brad Phillips of NorthwesternThe Outback Bowl is celebrating its 24th year and will kickoff at 11 A.M. (ET) on January 1st in Raymond James Stadium.  The game is telecast internationally on ESPN TV.   Tickets to the Outback Bowl are $70 each and are available at Ticketmaster outlets throughout Florida, via phone at (800) 745-3000 and online. Tickets are also available through the Auburn and Northwestern ticket offices.

The Outback Bowl is a New Year's Day college football game matching teams from the SEC and Big Ten Conference (3rd pick from each). The game is a culmination of a week-long schedule of events throughout the Tampa Bay. There's lots of action both on and off the field. Spectators can participate in a variety of special events and sports activities prior to the game.

Ben Tate of AuburnThe Outback Bowl generates an estimated annual economic impact of $30.2 million as well as millions of dollars worth of exposure for the region. The game annually attracts 40,000+ out of market visitors from across the country. Tickets are on sale at all Florida Ticketmaster outlets and online at Ticketmaster. Browse this website for all of your travel planning information!

An agreement was reached in April 1995 with Outback Steakhouse to become the title sponsor of the bowl until the year 2002, effectively changing the name of the game from the Hall of Fame Bowl to the Outback Bowl. This agreement was recently extended for the second time through the 2010 game making Outback the second longest title sponsorship in the history of college bowls.

The first Outback Steakhouse opened in Tampa, March 1988.  Since the opening, the Australian theme restaurant has experienced an explosion of action. Since its launch the restaurant from down under has surfaced as one of the country's hottest restaurant concepts.  There are approximately 900 Outback Restaurants to date in 48 states and 14 foreign countries.
