You’ll have the chance to sample the test kitchen's three favorite holiday cookies; learn which baking gear the test kitchen's experts recommend—and why; participate in a blind taste-test of premium dark chocolates and receive the test kitchen's holiday gift giving guide to top-rated kitchen equipment and gourmet foods. Set in a professional culinary school, this event is a unique opportunity to get ready for the hectic season ahead.
Jack Bishop is the editorial director of America's Test Kitchen. He joined the staff of Cook's Magazine in 1988 and helped with the launch of Cook's Illustrated in 1993. He established the tasting protocols used in America's Test Kitchen and has authored dozens of articles for the magazine. Jack directed the launch of Cook's Country magazine and oversees editorial operations at both magazines. He is a cast member of America's Test Kitchen, the top-rated public television cooking show now in its seventh season. Jack edited The Best Recipe (1999) and established the book division at America's Test Kitchen. He is the author of several cookbooks, including A Year in a Vegetarian Kitchen, Vegetables Every Day, The Complete Italian Vegetarian Cookbook, Pasta e Verdura, and Lasagna.

If you think you do, or if you just like to eat great BBQ, come to the 6th Annual Plant City Pig Jam State BBQ Championship, brought to you by the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce. Individuals will compete in the professional, amateurs and kids’ barbeque competition Saturday, November 22nd at the Randy Larson Softball Four-Plex, 1900 South Park Rd/1401 Albertsons Drive. The general public has the opportunity to sample some of the best BBQ in the country!

Pig Jam has been sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). Prizes will be awarded in each category with professionals vying for the $3,000 Grand Champion Award, $2,000 for Reserve and cash prizes through 10th place in each of the four food categories (BBQ Ribs, BBQ Port, Beef Brisket and Chicken). Prizes will also be awarded in the amateur and kids’ competitions. Proceeds of the Pig Jam will benefit chamber programs.
Family Fun & Concert Pig Jammers will have food and a lot more to enjoy. While grills will be busy from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., there will be a rock-climbing wall; moon walks snow cones and cookies plus a host of additional activities for children.
Parking is $3 per vehicle and – admission is FREE! Live band will be will be playing from 11:00 am-5:00 pm.

Mementos from under the Minarets evokes the tourist and collector in all of us, and gives visitors a glimpse of the Hotel that Henry B. Plant publicized so enthusiastically when he began developing Florida. The primary focus of the exhibit is to showcase rare souvenirs, trinkets, remembrances and memorabilia featuring the Tampa Bay Hotel--everything from whimsical alligator spoons to delicate portraiture china pieces to the exquisite hand-painted, opening day fan. Ephemera such as original postcards and stereoscopes, along with advertisements meant to lure visitors to Tampa, will augment the exhibit. In addition, the exhibit explores letters and collectibles from a number of well-known guests such as Frederic Remington, Clara Barton and Richard Harding Davis.
